About us
Civic Feline Clinic is a feline-exclusive practice in Walnut Creek, California, where every detail, from the paint on the walls to the scents in the air, has been designed with one patient in mind: the cat. This is a six-doctor hospital with a singular clinical focus that sets it apart. The team here doesn’t split attention between species. Every protocol, every handling technique, every clinical decision is built around the distinctive physiology and behavior of feline patients.
Founded on the belief that cats deserve specialized, species-specific care, the clinic has cultivated a culture of deep clinical expertise and remarkable team stability. The average staff tenure exceeds ten years, a clear reflection of a workplace where people genuinely want to stay, grow, and do their best work. Leadership here operates as experienced mentors and collaborators, investing in both professional growth and the daily well-being of the team. Under the broader NVA network, Civic Feline benefits from organizational resources and career pathways while retaining the close-knit, autonomous feel of a specialty-focused hospital.
The facility matches the philosophy. You’ll work with digital radiography, a new Quattro ultrasound unit, a fully equipped surgical suite, digital dental radiography, and dedicated hospitalization areas including luxury boarding suites. With UC Davis just a short drive away, referral support and continuing education opportunities are always within reach.
Love bringing my cat here. It’s so much better than any other vet I have been to. The fact that it is only cats is so much better for my little boy. The staff are wonderful, the lobby area is beautiful and there are all kinds of cat centric things everywhere. Funny posters, adorable pictures, every detail from the Kleenex dispenser in the bathroom to the trash can next to the desk-it’s all cat related. It’s super cute – Bekah B – Google Review
About this role
As an Associate Veterinarian, your days will be defined by the depth and nuance that feline medicine demands. This isn’t a role where cats are an afterthought on a mixed-species schedule. Every case on your table is feline, and every colleague around you shares that same singular focus.
Your clinical work will span the full scope of feline care:
- Comprehensive physical examinations using cat-friendly and fear-free protocols to minimize patient stress from the moment they arrive.
- Diagnostic workups using digital radiography, ultrasonography, and in-house dental imaging to build complete clinical pictures.
- Medical and surgical case management, from routine wellness through complex diagnostics and dental procedures, with the satisfaction of following cases through to resolution.
- Client partnership, educating and guiding cat owners through diagnoses, treatment plans, preventive care, and nutritional guidance as a trusted long-term advisor.
- Collaborative development of the support team, helping to raise the standard of care and client experience across the hospital.
You’ll be backed by support staff trained specifically in feline handling, many of whom have been with the practice for over a decade. This is a team that anticipates your needs and shares your commitment to minimizing patient stress at every touchpoint.
About you
You’re a veterinarian who finds genuine fulfillment in the complexity and subtlety of feline medicine. Maybe you’ve spent years refining your feline skills and you’re ready for a practice that matches your dedication. Or maybe you’re a newer graduate who has always gravitated toward cats and wants to learn from a team that has made feline care their life’s work. We enthusiastically welcome new grads and will pair you with experienced feline practitioners who are invested in your clinical development from day one.
You bring strong clinical instincts across diagnostics, surgery, and internal medicine, and you’re energized by the challenge of patients who don’t always make it easy. You communicate with clarity and empathy, understanding that behind every cat is an owner who needs to feel heard and informed. You’re a natural collaborator who lifts the people around you and contributes to a culture of mutual respect and continuous improvement.
Whether you’re experienced or early-career, what matters most is your commitment to practicing thoughtful, patient-centered medicine in an environment built entirely around the species you care about most.
You hold a DVM (or equivalent) and an active California veterinary license, or the ability to obtain one prior to your start date.
