If you’re an experienced Veterinary Nurse seeking a hospital where excellence is celebrated, your expertise is valued, and you’ll be supported to grow professionally, this could be exactly what you’re looking for. We’re seeking a talented nurse to join our team at an independently owned ASAVA Hospital of Excellence. If this sounds like your kind of place, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.
About us
Malvern Vet Hospital has been serving Melbourne’s inner east since 1956 and has held ASAVA Hospital of Excellence accreditation repeatedly since 1981 – a distinction shared by only 13 practices across Victoria. This accreditation recognizes exceptional standards in diagnostics, surgery, laboratory services, and nursing care. We’re also a Fear Free practice.
Malvern Vet has an environment where staff genuinely want to stay – some team members have been with us since the late 1980s, and many who’ve left have returned because the culture here is different. We’re independently owned with exceptionally low staff turnover, and our management team actively listens and seeks input from the entire team.
We treat each other with respect, kindness, and good humor. Our philosophy is simple – we apply CARE…
- Compassion
- Advocacy
- Respect
- Excellence
… in everything we do. We pay above award rates because we recognize the knowledge and skill veterinary nurses bring to every shift.
Unlike corporate practices with endless bureaucracy, we’re nimble and responsive. Research shows people working for independent vets are happier and better paid, and we’re proof of that.
The hospital occupies a beautiful heritage building integrated with a purpose-built veterinary surgery. We’re spacious and well-equipped with digital radiology, ultrasonography, endoscopy, a comprehensive in-house laboratory, modern anaesthetic and monitoring equipment, advanced dental equipment, and dedicated staff areas including an outdoor lunch space.
My mum grew up in a Paris apartment with no room for pets, something she always missed. When she moved to the countryside, she filled our home with animals. My childhood was full of the unconditional love only pets can give, and caring for animals became about gratitude – repaying that love by helping others keep their pets healthy and happy. I started here in 2008 as a trainee nurse. Today I’m the Practice Manager, and many colleagues have enjoyed similar journeys – Sophie Sabadin, Practice Manager, Malvern Vet Hospital
