About us
For more than 30 years, our clinic has been a trusted part of the Fawkner community, known for compassionate care, clear communication, and a genuinely welcoming approach. Pets and their owners are supported with kindness, honesty, and a standard of care that feels both professional and personal.
Today, our clinic is entering an important new chapter, with a clear vision for the future and a strong foundation already in place. Our team brings a valuable mix of experience, loyalty, and clinical depth, including a veterinarian with more than 30 years of experience and advanced TPLO skills. Alongside a highly capable nursing team and a loyal client base, there is real opportunity here for the right Lead Veterinarian to strengthen mentorship, clinical support, and the day-to-day confidence of the team.
We are building a culture that values collaboration, development, and high-quality care, while staying grounded in the strong community relationships that have shaped our clinic over many years. For a veterinarian who wants to help guide a well-established practice forward, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a clinic that is ready for its next phase.
We are a proud member of VetPartners, Australia and New Zealand’s largest veterinary care network, with more than 270 practices and specialty hospitals. VetPartners provides the infrastructure, equipment, and training that empower our teams to focus on quality medicine, the people and pets they care for. With six Veterinary Training Centres and a network of more than 4,000 vets and veterinary nurses, we offer the strength of a national network while keeping the heart of local practice.
Thank you to the vets and nurses at Fawkner Vet for taking such great care of my pets. They were incredibly helpful, informative, and genuinely reassuring throughout our visit. The reception staff are always welcoming and friendly, which makes a big difference. Highly recommend this clinic – Chrisy P – Google Review
About this role
This is a hands-on leadership role for a veterinarian who wants to influence both patient care and team development.
Working closely with the Practice Manager, you will help guide the veterinary team, support strong clinical standards, and contribute to a positive, sustainable clinic culture. You will be joining a busy companion animal practice with a loyal clientele, strong community trust, and the autonomy to do your work well.
The clinic includes four consult rooms, a sterile theatre, digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, and a full in-house pathology suite, giving you the tools to work cases up thoroughly and deliver a high standard of care. For someone with a surgical interest, guaranteed surgical days add further variety and satisfaction to the week.
This role will suit an experienced veterinarian ready to mentor others, help shape the direction of the clinic, and contribute to a team environment that is collaborative, supportive, and committed to good medicine.
About you
You are an experienced small animal veterinarian who combines sound clinical judgement with a thoughtful, team-minded approach. You care about standards, communicate clearly, and understand that strong patient care is built on trust, consistency, and a team that feels supported to do its best work.
You are likely someone who enjoys helping others grow, whether that means mentoring less experienced vets, encouraging team development, or contributing to a workplace culture that feels constructive, respectful, and steady. You do not need to be loud to lead well. What matters most is your ability to bring warmth, professionalism, and confidence to both the clinical and human side of practice.
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Leadership capability and a proactive mindset
- A warm, professional, and positive approach
- At least 5 years of clinical experience
- A BVSc or equivalent qualification with Australian registration
An interest in surgery will be highly valued, though just as important is your willingness to invest in the team around you and help shape a clinic culture people want to be part of.
