About us
Vineyard Veterinary Hospital has looked after pets across the Hawkesbury and Hills since the early 1980s. Four decades of care in one community, and the reason it’s held together that long is the people who’ve stayed to build it.
Dr. Ciaran joined us from Ireland in 2013. He trained at University College Dublin and spent his early career across mixed and cattle practice before settling with us, and he brings the kind of surgical hands and ultrasonography depth that raises the standard of every workup. Brooke, our Practice Manager, started as a veterinary nurse here in 2001, became Head Nurse in 2004, and stepped into the PM role in 2018. She knows this clinic inside out, and she’s the kind of Practice Manager who makes everyone’s day easier. Our nurses stay too: many past five years, all fully qualified, and we keep backing those still completing their credentials.
Clinically, we’re well equipped for the full picture: surgery and orthopaedics, dentistry, ultrasonography and endoscopy, laboratory diagnostics, on-site canine reproduction including IVF, and digital imaging with cloud access. Your cases stay yours from first consult through to resolution, and our culture trusts your clinical judgment.
We are a proud member of VetPartners, Australia and New Zealand’s largest veterinary care network, bringing together more than 270 individual practices and specialty hospitals. VetPartners provides the infrastructure, equipment, and training that allows practice teams like ours to focus on what matters most: the medicine, our patients and their family members. With six dedicated Veterinary Training Centres across the region and a clinical community of more than 1,000 vets, this network offers real support and professional development, while preserving our clinical independence and community roots.

About this role
This is a GP role with clinical range. Your days run on consulting through the morning and surgical work in the afternoons, with roughly twelve consults per vet when the book is full. Four consult rooms keep the flow clean, and the nursing team is skilled enough that you’ll spend your time on medicine rather than managing the room.
The caseload holds genuine variety. You’ll move from preventative and wellness work through to soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, with our MyLab X8 ultrasound and cloud-based digital imaging supporting the workups that need them. Our canine reproduction program runs on-site, including IVF, and brings a technical dimension most GP roles don’t offer. After-hours cover is shared across the team on a pager roster, with triage by phone and the occasional procedure, and it’s paid separately on top of base.
We’re open to full-time or part-time. The roster is built around the life you actually want to live.
About you
You’re an experienced GP vet, probably three or more years in, and you’ve found your rhythm in the work. You enjoy consulting and you’re at home in theatre, and you bring the kind of clinical judgment that colleagues quietly come to rely on.
What we’re looking for:
- Clinical confidence: You handle the standard GP caseload cleanly and step up for the harder cases without needing a runway.
- Warmth with clients: You build rapport easily and explain complex decisions in ways that leave owners feeling informed, not lectured.
- A teaching instinct: Our nurses are capable and curious. You don’t need to formally mentor, but you should be the kind of vet who shares what they know as a matter of course.
- Groundedness: You stay even when the day gets messy, and you know that professionalism and good humour aren’t in tension.
Formal requirements: BVSc or equivalent, current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW (or eligibility for registration), and ideally three or more years in small animal practice.
Our location
Vineyard sits in Sydney’s north-west growth corridor, semi-rural in feel but well connected to the city through the Rouse Hill Metro. Families find larger properties, green space, and established school catchments within reach, without the density of the inner suburbs. Couples have the Hawkesbury River on the doorstep, with the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley within weekend reach. Early-career vets swap inner-Sydney rent for property space, while keeping the city on the end of a short Metro ride. It’s a suburb built for a settled life with Sydney still close at hand.
Our offer
Our package is built around experience, flexibility, and a life that doesn’t end when you leave the clinic:
- Salary: A competitive salary that reflects your expertise and experience.
- Flexibility: Full-time or part-time, with hours shaped around your life.
- Additional income: Paid after-hours work with call-out fees plus 40 to 50% of consult fees on top of base salary.
- Continuing education: CPD allowance and dedicated study leave.
- Training access: Free access to the VetPartners Veterinary Training Centre.
- Wellbeing benefits: Fitness Passport, Medibank Corporate Cover, and access to the Wellbeing Gateway.
- Life outside work: Paid parental leave, retail discounts, and novated leasing options.
- Relocation: Relocation support available for eligible candidates.
We’re happy to discuss remuneration alternatives that work better for your circumstances. Let’s talk about what fits.
