About us
We’re a purpose-built general practice with a clear sense of how good veterinary medicine should feel, for the people receiving it and for the team delivering it. Our group is small by design: one associate vet and four experienced veterinary nurses who bring real clinical skill, professional pride, and a genuine sense of shared purpose to every shift.
Our nurses aren’t support staff in the background. They’re active clinical contributors who keep the day moving, notice what patients need, and help create the kind of experience that brings clients back with confidence. You’ll feel the difference they make from day one.
As part of the wider Greencross network, we offer something that’s often absent in standalone practice: real, structural support. A Regional Clinical Director who coaches and guides Vet Directors across the group. A peer network of Vet Directors to bounce ideas around with and talk through cases. A broader Greencross clinical community available when you want a second perspective or a shared win. This is a practice built around professional respect, and the backing that comes with it goes well beyond the walls of the clinic.
Very happy with the service at Greencross Butler. Great team, friendly and always happy to help. Its nice to see the same staff and not have someone different each time. Nice bright clean rooms. – Oliver C – Google Review
About this role
This is a clinical leadership role with real texture. You’ll set the tone for care standards across the clinic, guide your team’s development day to day, and carry your own active caseload including emergency presentations. The expectation isn’t that you lead by title alone. It’s that your presence shapes how the clinic operates at every level.
To protect your clinical time, we use Heidi AI note-taking, reducing the administrative load so more of your day stays focused on patients and people.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Clinical Standards: Setting and sustaining the level of care that keeps patients in confident, consistent hands across every shift.
- Mentorship: Guiding your associate vet and nursing team with practical, grounded support that builds real capability over time.
- Culture and Psychological Safety: Building an environment where questions surface early, decisions are well-supported, and every team member can operate at their best.
- Hands-On Caseload: Staying clinically active across a varied mix of cases including emergencies, so your leadership stays anchored in the reality of day-to-day medicine.
About you
We’re looking for a director who leads by being present. Not just in the title, but in the texture of every shift. You care about how the people around you feel at work, and you build teams that communicate clearly, support each other, and hold their standard when it counts.
You find real satisfaction in developing others. Watching a nurse grow in clinical confidence, or an associate vet arrive at a strong decision independently, those moments are part of why you do this. You practice thoughtful, high-quality medicine and you set a tone that makes that standard feel reachable for everyone around you.
You bring:
- A grounded, consistent leadership style that keeps the team steady under pressure.
- Genuine investment in mentorship and building others’ capability over time.
- The ability to hold clinical standards while staying practical and supportive in how you apply them.
- A communication style that makes questions feel safe and ideas feel heard.
To practice in Australia, you’ll need a BVSc or DVM recognised by the AVBC, with the ability to register as a veterinarian in your state.
Our location
Butler sits on Western Australia’s northern coastal strip, around 34 minutes from Perth CBD and 14 minutes from Yanchep National Park. It’s a suburb built for people who want space, access to the outdoors, and the conveniences of a connected community, without giving any of them up.
For families, childcare sits across the road from the clinic with schools close by. For those arriving solo or with a partner, the pace and geography of the area make it easy to put down roots without starting from scratch.
Our offer
We’re committed to supporting your move and your career over the long term. Here’s what the package includes:
- Relocation and Career Support: Up to $15,000 to help with your transition into the role.
- Visa Sponsorship: Available for eligible international candidates and their immediate family.
- Leave: Four weeks of annual leave plus one week of paid study leave each year.
- Professional Development: Access to the Greencross Clinical Conference, workshops, webinars, and external training programs, backed by a dedicated CE investment.
- Membership: Paid AVA membership or annual veterinary registration covered.
- Wellbeing: Structured mental health support including trained Mental Health Officers, team-wide access to training, and a 24/7 Employee Assistance Program.
- Flexibility: Working arrangements designed to fit your life beyond the clinic.
- Discounts: Staff discounts across Greencross Vets, Animal Referral Hospital, and Petbarn.
We’re always open to discussing arrangements that suit your individual circumstances. If there’s something specific that matters to you, let’s talk.
