About us
We are the last independently owned practice in town, with a 50-year record of serving our local community. We build long-term relationships and interact with our clients around town, where we see each other outside of work. Our staff have the benefit of being part of a great team that supports each other and is, in turn, supported by the owners who put staff ahead of clients. For the past few years, the only reason staff have left is that their spouse has been transferred elsewhere or they have taken maternity leave.
This is an incredible clinic to work at for many reasons, the highlights for me are…
The opportunity to experience a wide variety of surgical and medical cases, with a loyal and friendly client base.
Senior vets and management encourage and support the pursuit of personal work interests and expertise, and are constantly striving to ensure employed vets have a healthy and realistic work-life balance.
It’s the first clinic I’ve worked at where I feel safe to address problems and the confidence a solution will be found – Kim, Team Member
About this role
This role is a full-time position for a vet who wants to build long-term relationships with clients and become part of a small-town community. It involves a great balance between consulting and surgery with a practice that has all the necessary equipment to allow you to have fun and grow your skill set. The current vets have nearly 100 years of experience between the 6 of them, so there is always a helping hand if needed. The role is a standard 38-hour working week with one day off each week and working one Saturday morning every month. After-hours work is shared between the 4 clinics in town, so a full weekend every 16 weeks is very manageable.
About you
We are looking for a vet who can fit in with a team that works hard but enjoys spending their off time relaxing either surfing, fishing or enjoying our beautiful coastline. This person needs to be comfortable communicating well, as our staff complement of 22 people means plenty of interaction on a daily basis. Ideally, we are looking for a vet with 2-3 years of experience, but we will consider all applicants as we have staff who can support and train as needed.
Our location
Port Macquarie is a gorgeous little town on the mid-north coast of NSW, midway between Sydney and Brisbane, described as the “most liveable climate in Australia”. Surrounded by natural forests in the mountains, with a river running through town down to our beautiful sandy white beaches, our staff can surf in their lunch breaks or enjoy lunch on the river banks, which are only 3 minutes from the clinic.
Our offer
Our package depends on your level of experience and is from $70 -130,000 per year. We pay staff at an hourly rate, so long days are well remunerated if we are busy.
Superannuation is added on top of the salary and vets get very well compensated for any after-hours work done. Annual leave is 4 weeks and can be taken in the first year of work. A CPD allowance of $1000 per year is paid and from the 2nd year, a week’s CPD leave can be taken. Memberships of AVA etc are all paid, and the clinic stocks fresh fruit weekly for staff, with regular coffees provided as well!
