Whether you’re a seasoned ECC vet or a GP ready to move into emergency medicine, you’ll grow your skills, help build a new integrated hospital and work with a team that values life outside work.
About us
You’ll join VicVet as we build an integrated veterinary destination for Melbourne’s north, bringing Primary Care, Emergency and expanding Referral Services together under one roof. We provide general practice and emergency and critical care to Melbourne’s northern corridor, supported by a skilled nursing team and experienced clinical leaders.
Our purpose-built Emergency & Referral hospital opened in Whittlesea in April 2026. Planned investment in medicine, oncology, CT, surgery and advanced referral capabilities gives vets real scope to grow their skills and help shape the service. Backed by Apiam Animal Health, you’ll have a national veterinary network behind you and a team around you that values collaboration, professional development and life outside work.
We had to bring our cat iDolly n for an emergency C-section, and I cannot thank Dr Josie and the team enough. It was an incredibly stressful situation, but they were very calm, compassionate, and professional throughout. She took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure our cat received the best possible care. – Sofia Douvos – Google Review
About this role
You’ll work alongside veterinarians, ECC nurses and the wider clinical team in a hospital that values mentorship, knowledge-sharing and continuous learning, with high standards of patient care at the centre of what we do. As our veterinary team grows, so do the mentoring, clinical support and development opportunities around you.
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you’ll deliver emergency and critical care across a diverse caseload and contribute to the clinical workflows and protocols that shape how our service develops. Whether you’re an experienced ECC clinician or a GP veterinarian ready to begin in emergency, you’ll learn from experienced clinicians with a dedicated ECC nursing team beside you.
Shifts are a mix of sole-charge and team-based work, with clinical support arrangements in place. Our modern hospital is designed for triage, diagnostics and critical care. We’re happy to discuss full-time or part-time arrangements across day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts so you can find a sustainable roster, and as our referral capabilities expand, you’ll have access to structured development and future career opportunities.
