About us
Warrnambool Veterinary Clinic has been part of the South West Victorian community since 1978, providing high-quality veterinary medicine, surgery, and advice across a diverse range of animal species. Our team combines modern, evidence-based care with the practical, relationship-driven approach that matters in a regional mixed practice.
Our Warrnambool hospital is one of the leading animal health facilities in the region, with five consult rooms, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, a full in-house Idexx laboratory, dedicated dentistry suite with dental radiography, modern surgical facilities, and a large, comfortable hospital. We are supported by experienced veterinarians, highly trained nurses, and friendly receptionists who help create a calm, capable, and caring environment for clients, patients, and colleagues.
Our production animal work is a genuine strength. Warrnambool Veterinary Clinic is recognised as one of Australia’s most innovative dairy veterinary services, with systems, products, and services developed to improve seasonal and split calving herd performance. Alongside our Warrnambool hospital, our clinics in Port Fairy, Koroit, and Nullawarre, plus our fully equipped mobile clinic, allow us to provide accessible care across farms, communities, and companion animal settings.
So incredibly grateful to the entire team at Warrnambool Veterinary, everyone down to the administration staff have been incredible in keeping our little boy Freddy, happy, safe and loved during his 9 night stay. A huge special mention to Dr Shatha you may just be Fred’s second favourite person now besides mum and dad – Tayah – Google Review
About this role
This role can be shaped around the kind of veterinary work you enjoy most. You may want the variety of true mixed practice, with companion animal medicine and surgery alongside production animal work and a strong dairy focus. Or you may prefer to focus more heavily on companion animals, while still being part of a broader mixed practice team.
You will have access to a broad and interesting caseload, with scope to build further interest in dentistry, surgery, herd health, or another clinical area that matters to you. The role also offers flexibility across location and working style. You can be based primarily at our Warrnambool hospital, split your time between Warrnambool and our beautiful Port Fairy clinic, or take on Port Fairy as your main base if you are looking for a supported sole charge role with more independence.
Whichever path suits you best, you will not be working in isolation. You will have the backing of a large, experienced team, a well-equipped regional hospital, and colleagues who value quality care, practical thinking, and strong client relationships.
About you
You are a confident, collaborative veterinarian who enjoys building trust with clients and providing thoughtful, high-quality care. You communicate clearly, work well with nurses and support staff, and bring a steady, practical approach to clinical decision-making.
You may already enjoy mixed practice, dairy, herd health, or production animal work. You may be more companion animal focused and looking for a role where your caseload can be tailored around your strengths. You may also be interested in supported sole charge work, particularly if the Port Fairy clinic and the chance to take more ownership of your day appeals to you.
You will bring:
- A genuine interest in quality medicine and lasting client relationships
- A collaborative approach with vets, nurses, receptionists, clients, and producers
- Confidence to manage your caseload with support available when needed
- Curiosity to keep learning and developing your clinical interests
- Experience in mixed animal or small animal practice
- Ability or interest in working sole charge in a supported environment
