About us
We’re a thriving companion animal practice with a strong reputation for high-standard medicine and a team that genuinely enjoys turning up to work. Our clients are loyal, often delightful, and they trust us with the cases that matter, including the second-opinion work that keeps things interesting. We’ve built a hospital we’re proud of and a culture that protects the people inside it.
Our team is young, ambitious, and committed to doing the work properly. We back each other through the hard days and celebrate the wins, often with coffee runs, the occasional cake, and the kind of small rituals that make a workplace feel like a professional home rather than just a job. We have the backing of a national veterinary group for career pathways, training, and peer support, but the day-to-day rhythm and clinical direction are ours to shape.
Recently having moved from Melbourne I was struggling to find a good rabbit vet. I have tried a couple places and so far Fur Life Vet Shepparton has been the best! They are just amazing at their job , really friendly team and super supportive of pets that have anxiety – Courtney S- Google Review
About this role
This is a chance to step into a Clinical Lead role with the runway to make it your own. You’ll set, uphold, and evolve clinical standards while coaching a team that’s already engaged and eager to grow. Co-leadership and part-time arrangements are on the table if that suits your life better, and the role can flex around the right person.
Day to day, you’ll work across a varied general practice caseload with the satisfaction of seeing cases through from first contact to outcome. You’ll have visiting specialist surgeons in regularly for orthopaedic and other advanced work, a purpose-built facility behind you, and a team that knows how to keep a hospital flowing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting clinical standards and driving consistency across the team, with the autonomy to evolve protocols as the practice grows.
- Mentoring and developing the clinical team through case discussions, day-to-day coaching, and structured CPD.
- Managing a mixed medicine, surgery, and dentistry caseload, including second-opinion referrals from clients who already trust the practice.
- Working alongside visiting specialists on more complex cases to keep continuity of care in-house.
- Contributing to the commercial health of the practice with the support of an experienced national leadership network.
- If you’re an experienced veterinarian who’s drawn to the clinical work but not ready for a leadership title, we’re equally interested in talking. The right senior GP could make this clinic their own without taking on the lead role.
About you
You’re an experienced veterinarian who takes the work seriously and the people around you seriously too. You’re confident in your clinical instincts, comfortable making the call, and you enjoy bringing a team along with you. The Clinical Lead pathway will appeal if you’ve been waiting for the right environment to grow into leadership, with proper mentorship behind you rather than being thrown in.
You’ll bring a community-minded, collaborative approach, the patience to coach younger team members, and the commercial awareness to help a practice thrive alongside the clinical excellence. If you’re more interested in the senior GP track without the leadership remit, we’d still love to hear from you.
Formal requirements: minimum three years of post-graduate experience with a solid GP skillset across medicine, surgery, and dentistry; eligibility for veterinary registration in Australia (we offer visa sponsorship for candidates with degrees that can be registered locally).
Our location
Shepparton sits about two hours from Melbourne, regional enough to feel like a real place and connected enough that you’re not cut off. It’s a growing hub with proper infrastructure: cafes and restaurants worth a Saturday out, sports clubs that take new members seriously, and a school catchment that gives families options without a city commute. Houses are within reach for first-time buyers, the daily commute is whatever you make it, and weekends open up to the Goulburn River, the High Country snow runs, or a quick drive to the airport when the city calls.
Our offer
We’ve put together a package designed to make the move worthwhile and the role sustainable.
- Salary: $160,000 to $180,000 per annum (FTE), with generous remuneration packages available for experienced senior veterinarians beyond this range.
- Profit sharing: Available for the Clinical Lead role.
- Relocation: Up to $15,000 in relocation assistance.
- Housing support: Twelve months of rental support is available, subject to confirmation of the specific arrangement with the practice.
