About us
We’ve been part of the Canberra and Queanbeyan community since 1992, which means more than three decades of relationships built one consultation at a time. Our philosophy hasn’t shifted: when a patient walks through our door, continuity of care isn’t a feature we advertise, it’s how we actually work. Where possible, the vet who sees your patient first is the vet who sees them through.
Our team is experienced, settled, and genuinely invested in what we do here. Jaiden, our Practice Manager and qualified veterinary nurse, has been with us since 2016 and brings the kind of institutional knowledge that holds a team together. Dr Steven, who joined us in 2006, brings particular depth in internal medicine and preventative care, and the consistency he brings to his caseload reflects the broader character of this practice: people who stay because it’s worth staying for.
Our facility reflects the same commitment. We’ve invested in the equipment that lets our vets work with confidence: full surgical and dental suites, in-house laboratory, digital and dental imaging, ultrasound, and orthopaedic and laparoscopic capability. We’re also AQIS accredited and equipped to support exotics cases, which keeps the caseload varied and clinically engaging.
We are a proud member of VetPartners, Australia and New Zealand’s largest veterinary care network, with more than 270 practices and specialty hospitals. VetPartners provides the infrastructure, equipment, and training that empower our teams to focus on quality medicine, the people and pets they care for. With six Veterinary Training Centres and a network of more than 4,000 vets and veterinary nurses, we offer the strength of a national network while keeping the heart of local practice.
Had a great experience here with our unwell dog. Reception staff were so lovely and helpful. The Vet was friendly, professional and really provided us with lots of information and helpful advice. Left feeling very reassured and will be bringing our dogs back here for their regular check ups/vaccines – Lauren – Google Review
About this role
This is a full-time general practice position with a caseload that keeps you clinically engaged across the breadth of small animal medicine. You’ll manage cases from initial consultation through to outcome, supported by an experienced nursing team that knows the patients, understands the protocols, and helps the day run well.
Soft tissue surgical confidence is an advantage here, and you’ll have the tools to use it: a well-equipped surgical suite with orthopaedic and laparoscopic capability, a comprehensive dental suite, in-house imaging, and rapid in-house diagnostics. For vets with an interest in exotics, there’s dedicated equipment to support that caseload too.
Key responsibilities include:
- Medical and Surgical Care: Delivering thorough, confident care across a varied GP caseload, with scope for soft tissue and orthopaedic work in-house.
- Diagnostics: Using in-house laboratory services, digital X-ray, dental imaging, and ultrasound to work up cases efficiently and accurately.
- Client Communication: Building trusted, ongoing relationships with a loyal client base that values knowing their vet, and being known by them.
- Team Contribution: Working alongside vets and nurses who take the clinical standard seriously and contribute to a practice culture built on professional respect.
About you
We’re looking for a veterinarian who finds real satisfaction in general practice done well. Someone who values the relationship side of the work as much as the clinical, who communicates with care and clarity, and who brings a steady, considered approach to whatever the day presents.
You’ll feel at home here if you’re the kind of clinician who takes continuity seriously, supports the people around you without being asked, and brings a collaborative mindset to a team that operates with genuine synchronisation. Surgical confidence in soft tissue is an advantage, and any experience with exotics is a welcome addition.
To be considered, you’ll hold a Bachelor or Doctor of Veterinary Science and be registered, or eligible to register, with the ACT Veterinary Practitioners Board. We’re open to candidates across a range of experience, from two years of solid small animal GP work through to more senior practitioners looking for a practice worth settling into.
Our location
Canberra is one of Australia’s most liveable cities: affordable, purposefully green, and built around a pace that leaves room for a life outside work. The Snowy Mountains are a short drive south, Sydney is three hours away when you need it, and strong schools, a thriving food and restaurant scene, and open spaces make this a location that works whether you’re arriving solo, as a couple, or with a family.
Our offer
- Salary: a competitive salary that will reflect your expertise and experience
- Rostering: Flexible scheduling built around work-life balance as well as clinic needs.
- Professional Development: A generous CPD allowance with paid study leave, plus complimentary access to clinical and leadership modules through the VetPartners Training Centre.
- Health and Wellbeing: Fitness Passport membership, Wellbeing Gateway access, and Medibank corporate health cover.
- Lifestyle: Access to the Flare discount program (80+ retail partners) and novated leasing options.
- Family: Paid parental leave.
We’re also happy to explore remuneration arrangements that suit your individual circumstances, and we’ll work through the details with you as the conversation develops.
